The Cottage

You’ll find everything you need for a self-catering break in the fully equipped kitchen, including a range cooker, modern appliances, generous worktops, and a large antique farmhouse table creating a welcoming space for prepping and sharing delicious, home-cooked meals.

On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious super king bedroom with zip-and-link beds, allowing for either a twin or super king setup. A shower room sits conveniently next door — perfect for guests who prefer to avoid stairs.

  • We like to make sure your stay at New Thornber feels effortless and comfortable from the moment you arrive.

    We provide all bedding and towels, along with bathmats and toiletries — including shampoo/body wash, conditioner, and hand wash.

    The cottage is fully stocked with everyday household essentials, such as loo rolls, tea towels, washing-up liquid, bin liners, dishwasher tablets, and washing machine liquids. You’ll also find tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper ready for use.

    For coffee lovers, there’s a Nespresso Vertuo machine with a small selection of Vertuo pods to get you started.

    Each bedroom has its own hairdryer, and all utilities, pre-arrival preparation, and departure cleaning are included in your stay — so you can simply relax and enjoy your time at New Thornber.

  • September - June: Flexible arrival days with a 3-night minimum stay.

    July - August: During the summer period there is a set arrival day and a 7-night minimum stay.

  • Absolutely — New Thornber is very well suited for children! Our own children are aged 8, 6 and 3, and much of what we’ve included in the cottage has been chosen with families in mind.

    We have a cosy bunkbed room that our two eldest love — it features sturdy, full-size single mattresses and comfortably sleeps both children and adults (the top bunk has a 100kg weight limit).

    For infants, we provide a travel cot with a comfortable mattress — we just ask that you bring your own bedding, as most parents prefer to use their own (we supply a fitted sheet).

    We have plenty of toys and books for all ages, and of course a TV for when it’s needed. Plus a high chair and children’s cutlery and crockery to make mealtimes easier.

    Outdoors, the garden is fully enclosed, providing a safe space for little ones to play and explore.

  • Not at all. While New Thornber has been thoughtfully equipped to make family stays easy and comfortable, it’s very much a property for grown-ups too.

    The layout works beautifully for two or three couples, with each having their own bedroom and bathroom (one on the ground floor and two upstairs). It’s also ideal for a family travelling with grandparents, offering plenty of space and privacy for everyone to relax and enjoy their stay.
